Waris is a pioneer among a new breed of craftsmen. With a passion for quality and beauty as well as a naturally creative spirit, Waris first started making jewellery for friends. Initially, the pieces were available exclusively at Maxfields in Los Angeles, but it was not long before his talent and vision caught the eye of a much wider audience.

While acting in The Life Aquatic, Waris fell in love with Rome. He was inspired by the city’s living history and by the quality and attention to detail of its artisans. Tucked away in the old city, he discovered the perfect small workshop. Within six months, House of Waris had moved from New York to Rome where craftsmen with generations of experience in creating meticulously handcrafted jewelry now help make Waris’ unique and instinctive design philosophy become a reality. The expression of his eclectic, instinctive and free-flowing vision is captured in every piece before being stamped with the HOUSE of WARIS symbol.

Balancing his time between jewellery and acting, Waris returned home to NewYork City for a role in Spike Lee’s Inside Man before setting off once again in search of gems.

Often traveling back to his native land in India (where Waris recently completed The Darjeeling Limited, Wes Anderson’s most recent film), Waris has put together a team of some of the country’s best artisans. His latest jewelry collection is the result of those voyages. Waris splits his time between New York, Rome and Rajasthan, working with the best in each city, from goldsmiths to diamond setters who once made the crests for regal families. “I create in the lands of ancient kingdoms, surrounded by the beauty of history,” says Waris.

Through the vigilant pursuit of quality and a never ending search for the best craftsmen around the world, Waris has become the new face of luxury. Anchored in the land of traditions, yet raised in the ever-changing city of New York, he is in a unique position to share with the world an uncommon view. Determined to preserve the ways of the old craftsmen and along the way setting new standards for goods that are touched by hand, Waris gives luxury a new light.
